Super Awesome Northern Ontario Wrestling Show is a comedy series combining professional wrestling with circus performance. Working with both live audiences and closed sets, this scripted linear episodic does not take itself too seriously. Focusing on fun for the whole family, SANOWS or “Say Now” follows a group of Northern Ontario wrestlers from different small and rural communities coming together in search of winning the AWESOME BATTLE CHAMPIONSHIP or “ABC”. This plucky group of colorful characters represent a large cross section of Northern Ontario talent from many regions and communities.
Professional wrestling has changed each year evolving and adapting to new generations. Currently, tumbling and acrobatics are prioritized in main-stream wrestling more than other formats previously prioritized. Say Now is a return to the many formats found within previous generations of wrestling. As a circus has many acts, so does our wrestling performing a diverse range of entertainment including clowning, acrobatics, trapeze, musicians, dancers, jugglers, magicians, ventriloquists and stunt-oriented arts such as sword swallowing, fire breathing and other forms of body manipulation.
There are many Wrestling shows out there including WWE, NJPW and OVW but Say Now re-purposes professional wrestling into moc-umentary style reality television format. establishing a completely new premise, storyline, and characters with Indy Wrestling in Canada as a backdrop. Wrestlers compete against each other in a typical team sports broadcast environment in front of live audiences while outlandish commentators discuss the play-by-plays taking place. Interstitched with this live footage we have staged vignettes following the storyline as players trying to win points and increase their rank surviving through challenges and obstacles of each episode.
