Fisherman’s Friend - Fishfest Comic Jam

The Fishfest Comic Jam is a safe haven for alternative comic artists and members of the contemporary arts community. A place where artists meet, exchange ideas, and find support, using illustration as a basis for both social interaction and arts advocacy. Through the creation of illustrative zine content, we hope to build a sense of community engaging with local history and current issues around this often underappreciated art form.

“COMIC JAMS” are constraint-based arts exercises where participants take turns drawing consecutive panels, reflecting upon and continuing collaborative stories spontaneously. The resulting comics become a unified narrative juxtaposing self-expressions within group social exchangement. This workshop allows comics to be a medium in which anyone and everyone can participate, and make their mark. All zine material will be collected and documented for the Fisherman’s Friend 2025 Zine.
